So what's the difference between a Podiatrist & a Chiropodist? And whats a Foot Health Practitioner?

The most qualified Foot Care Specialist out there is a Podiatrist. We have completed a 3 year Bachelor of Science Degree in Podiatry and are experienced in all specialist areas of foot care and treatment. 'Podiatrist' is a protected title, so only clinicians who have completed the 3 year degree can legally call themselves 'Podiatrists'. Legally we must be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), a governing body who ensure practitioners continue to meet the professional standards to practice safely & effectively.

Chiropodist is the original medical term for Podiatrist, but the professional name was changed when the 3 year degree was introduced.

Foot Health Practitioner's, or FHP's, have completed a basic level Diploma and often work assisting fully qualified Podiatrists in a clinical setting. They are not registered with the HCPC and cannot legally call themselves Podiatrists.
